About the Event
Echoes of Conflict and Nature: A probing journey through sound and story
Actor Gilles Van Hecke and saxophonist Maarten Vergauwen join forces in a compelling performance. This unique performance explores the raw contrast between war, nature and its effect on our society. With themes such as the nuclear threat and the devastating impact of conflict on communities and the environment, Vergauwen and Van Hecke create a performance that confronts and moves.
The performance weaves the powerful voice and expressive sounds of the solo saxophone into a seamless whole. Together, they form a guide that takes the audience along a narrative path that touches on different subjects.
The programme features works by renowned composers such as Jacob Ter Veldhuis, Fuminori Tanada and Ryo Noda, each adding a unique dimension to the performance's theme. In addition, the whole thing will be played together by texts that are thematically treated. Get carried away…
